What is therapy with me like?
I believe that we are all fellow travelers who all experience painful and joyous emotions and struggles as we go through life.
I specialize in helping clients who are feeling stuck, unfulfilled, and disconnected from themselves and others in their lives. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, I will work with you to reconnect with your values and your emotions in order to start living a more authentic, meaningful life.
Are we a good fit to work together?
I work with adults of all ages who are struggling with issues of self-esteem, identity, relationships, and life meaning. If you are feeling disconnected from yourself, your emotions, your life, or your relationships, I can help you re-center.
You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, or the effects of painful or traumatic experiences—I can help you shed light on these and get back in the driver seat of your life.
A core value that I bring to my work in the therapy room is creating a welcoming and compassionate space for people of all identities, especially those that have been systemically marginalized. This includes sexual and gender identity, as well as racial, cultural and religious identities.
If there are parts of you that you have been hesitant to share with the world due to fear, shame, or uncertainty, I invite you to bring them here and explore them.

The process of therapy
Our relationship
In the beginning of therapy, we will get to know one another to see if it feels like working with me is a good fit for you.
For therapy to be helpful, it has to feel like a safe space where you can be yourself and freely explore and share. I strive to build this space for all my clients.
Your goals
I will help you explore what is happening in your life right now so that you can identify what kinds of changes you would like to work towards.
Exploring patterns
I balance empathy with an analytical approach that helps you step outside your usual perspective and learn about your blind spots.
The work involves examining painful parts of your past and present while taking responsibility for living more fully now.
Beginning to heal
I believe that for most of us, healing is a process that takes time.
A critical part of my approach to therapy is to bring respect and kindness to this process at every step of the way.
Details
I offer primarily virtual therapy sessions, and I have some availability for in-person therapy sessions in Brooklyn Heights.
Note that I am licensed in New York State, and I can only currently provide services if you are physically located in the state (laws and regulations are in the process of changing to be more flexible on this).
Fees
I am in-network with Aetna insurance. I can also be billed as an out-of-network provider with other insurances.
If you are not using insurance, my normal fee for 50-minute therapy sessions is $300. I am able to offer a sliding scale fee as well, so please reach out if you think we may be a good fit for therapy but the cost is prohibitive.
Getting Started
I use the platform Alma to manage scheduling, booking, and virtual sessions.
